I know what it’s like.

To to want to give up. To be stuck in the same cycle. To believe that nothing will work.

When I experienced major injuries, I spent a long time chasing the quick fix, the magic rehab exercise, talking to more people to hear more of their opinions and ideas.

I also spent a long time saying “no” to hanging out with people and going on adventures because I was scared to let them see me struggle, feeling terrible that I believed that I couldn’t help myself yet nervous to ask for help, and panicking that I’d never be able to help someone who showed up in my clinic either.

So I took all the courses, was a constant case study for experts, and did everything the people and books said to do. All of it.

I still eventually had hip surgery twice.

And yes, the surgeries did work…structurally. To quote my doc, my hip was now “perfectly shaped and smooth” so jump back into life.

Symptomatically, emotionally and mentally?
Nope. The scopes were way less effective for the biggest part of the adventure.

That cycle just started up again on a slightly different track, because now I was constantly living in fear, was always upset and sad, and frustrated that I had to rely on someone else to supposedly “get me better”, and I still didn’t have any tools to help myself.


It took a few years and I eventually connected some dots, and began learning how to navigate all the different reasons I experienced pain, nervousness, and fear. Both before and after my joint was “fixed”.

☀️How to positively influence the pain responses, fears, and sensitivity - myself - through movement, breath, and music.

☀️How to feel what was happening, without over-analyzing why - and moving through it, instead of fighting it.

☀️How to create one positive experience with movement, then repeating it and progressing it. Over and over, until I got to where I want to be.

That’s what broke the cycle that I was in.

Not the surgery, the next best exercise, the therapy sessions, medications, or forcing myself into the protocol of what “should” have worked.

It was being empowered. To stand in the storm. To open up to possibility. To be brave. To feel me, be me, and choose me. 💛
