My "too long for instagram" caption about health and fitness certifications!

Education is important. The stuff we are “expected to learn and repeat for testing purposes” is actually SUPER important.

I’m talking personal training, yoga, movement screens, and health care.

⚡️YOU CAN’T OUTRUN BASIC BIOLOGICAL AND PHYSIOLOGICAL FUNCTIONS.
💥YOU CANT IGNORE ANATOMY AND MECHANICS.
✨YOU NEED TO UNDERSTAND HOW CHANGES TO HEART AND BREATHING RATE INFLUENCE BLOOD SUGAR, CARDIAC FUNCTION, BLOOD PRESSURE, AND THE NERVOUS SYSTEM.
🔥Plus a lot of other really super important things for ALL ELEVEN BODY SYSTEMS.

Please don’t forget that inclusivity extends to ensuring everyone is safe.

Literally, physically safe.

That’s why education is important. We can definitely do a lot to make people better. But it’s also pretty easy to do harm too.

University degrees in health and kinesiology and science teach you how to be SAFE and EFFECTIVE. I agree that it is impossible to teach concepts that are specific to every single type of person out there. But that’s the beauty of being a human being. It’s also why you SHOULD work with someone who knows what they’re doing, and has actually taken time to LEARN.

Because someone who’s taken the time to learn properly WILL understand and make sure your health and fitness is not only inclusive, but is personalized.

(“learn properly” =meaning not a weekend course. But a legitimate degree. Because guess what - fitness really effects your insides more than the outsides, but the people who “certify themselves” and call themselves a personal trainer because they can get away with it due to lack without regulation, don’t really acknowledge that concept and you should probably ask them what exactly their scope of practice is and what their liability insurance covers).

Please please please always ask questions. And don’t trust everything on the internet.
